Cognitive Load Theory

This was yet another article that we have read that I can completely relate to when it comes to talking about the learning process.  I remember back in elementary school, middle school, and high school all we would learn from were worksheets/handouts or thick and heavy textbooks, and whenever there would be a day where we watched a powerpoint or animation it made it easier for that information to stick to my head. Back when I took physics I remember that that professor was the only one that made up his own animations to make sure that we understood the laws and principles. Not only was it a more fun learning experience, it was also a better way to learn.
When looking at table 7.1 on page 134, I find that to be very true and very helpful.  I think those three goals are extremely essential when it comes to making a multimedia production for students.  I remember when I first took my lab class we would have to watch this video on lab safety, now at first you would think that the video is going to be extremely boring and long, but it wasn't actually.  It was somewhat outdated and funny which led to students focusing more on how outdated and lame it was rather than focusing on the safety rules of a laboratory. This situation I believe somewhat goes along side with the third theory, Foster generative cognitive processing. I definitely felt that this article is very helpful and is something that we should all keep in mind when deciding to present multimedia to students.

TPCK Article Response

While reading this article, it made me realize how important technology is for us in the twenty first century. It reminded me of my elementary school life when computer and technology was first introduced into my school. There would only be one teacher that knew how a computer worked and whenever our classroom would have an issue with the computer, she would be the only one that knew how to worked one, or work it well at least.  This article really explains how tech-savy our education is becoming now, and how important it is to be able to use a computer and use it to make it bring the attention of students. I am currently working at a children developing/learning center called Enopi and we are even beginning to give students a chance to interact on the computer and get use to the functions of a computer, this article really shows us how important it is to handle a computer and what it can do for a classroom, especially for our society today.
